Professional Mentorship Inquiries

The climate emergency requires all skills, knowledge, capacities and expertise to adapt to, prepare for, respond to and recover from shocks, stressors and social impacts. Everyone has a part. After ‘untethering’ from conventional academic work life, I began to get several inquiries about mentoring and internships. One of the main reasons for stepping back from the academic world is that I felt that we were not doing enough to prepare young people and emerging artists to collaborate, create and practice in a future impacted by climate change. I offer a limited number of tailored professional mentorships and internships each year to individuals and groups.

Mentoring on topics such as practice-led research and evaluation, climate emergency communication and practice, First Nations knowledge systems and protocols, transdisciplinary collaborative, experimental and creative methodologies, inclusive co-design and community engagement, food system community activation, how to scale impact, etc. There might be more…test me!

Mentorships can be in-person (in Melbourne with Covid-safety measures in place) or via Zoom. They can be project-based (yours), monthly, weekly or when needed. I can provide quotes if applying for grants and offer a sliding scale for fees. Tailored mentorships are relational and based on your aims and professional development. Note: if we are going to co-create work in any form, I do have a strong interest in public pedagogy so I prefer to make work that is accessible as open-source and/or part of the creative commons.

Internships are based on project availability and are best suited to a conversation. These are more reciprocal relationships based on my practice and projects, where you have a role on the inside. Here, you may be introduced to other folks in the field, get opportunities to collaborate, co-publish, experiment and be part of making work and relationships. I am keen to work with folks in areas outside of my discipline including folks in dance, performance, online content development, film, writers, curators, farmers, social ecologists, policymakers, activists, etc.
